According to the Malaysian Education Ministry, the main objective of 1Student 1Sport concept is to have a Healthy Social School Environment and also to improve the collaboration between Ministry of Education and other main government agencies such as Ministry of Health and Ministry of Youth and Sport. These two agencies involve in health issues and involve in the development of all sports and a higher sport performance. As written in the National Sport Policy, the Ministry of Education will provide time for physical education for all students as well as developing and coordinate sport activities in school involving the development of leadership qualities in sport and physical education. Together with the concept of 1Student 1Sport, it has a few objectives as follows: – Increase physical fitness, develop character, self-esteem discipline and moral values, Foster racial unity, develop a sports culture amongst students, to full fill school children’s natural affinity for physical activities and to provide balance between academic and physical needs.
According to the report and research from the health ministry, 30 percent of children between the ages of 6 and 17 did their exercise daily, yet they are not as physically active as they should be. Even though a good habit of practicing sport activity can be develop starting at home, it has to be in a continuous session to maintain the healthy lifestyle. Parents and teachers should be a good role model for the children to start exercising and to have a good lifestyle. By participating in daily exercise session, the children are less likely to have an overweight body mass and able to maintain strong bones and muscles.
This study shows us that, 1Sport 1Student are the right ways to do to help our young generation to become better and healthy person in future if we start at young age. It is also will make their more discipline in everything they do because they are used to it. Our sports industries will have more protégé in every sports that we have offered in school.
