All adults especially those working with children have a duty of care and responsibility to ensure all children and young people are free from harm and abuse, whether your concerns are inside or outside your working practice. All staff would need to be fully trained and aware of signs of harm/abuse, and how to monitor and record their findings, and when to involve other agencies and professionals. Policies would need to consider the child’s home life i.e. when on the internet and general safety at home, to their safety in clinical visits. Also, the policies would possibly need to include a behavioural policy outlining what is acceptable/unacceptable behaviour when in a clinical setting.
Where a child is identified as being at greater risk or on the ‘at risk’ register agencies will work together to offer greater support.
