Animal farm essay
In the book, “Animal Farm,” the author George Orwell is about events leading up to the Russian Revolution in 1917 and then into the stalinist era of the soviet union. George Orwell also teaches a lesson about that those in the position of power can abuse their authority. In the book “Aanimal Ffarm,” the pigs acted as dictators and when they have to much power there can be corruption. In the novel Animal Farm , Orwell is making the argument that both the leaders and followers in a revolution are guilty when long term positive change is not accomplished.
In the novel,Animal Farm, the owner of the farm Mr. Jones does not treat the animals very well because he is very lazy and likes to drink a lot . One of the leaders of the farm a pig named Old Major give the animals a speech and what he dreamed about . The speech was about the humans he wanted the humans gone and wanted all the animals to rebel against any of the humans so the animals could take over the farm and do the things they wanted to do. After the speech the animals agree to take over the farm and take down the owner of the farm Mr.Jones. When the humans arrived all the animals started to attack and scared the humans away. Because there was no farmer anymore the animals had to take care of the farm themselves. The pigs decided to make commandments all the animals had to follow.
After time the pigs kept gaining more and more power. In chapter 6 the pigs move into the farmhouse, they sleep in beds but one of their commandments was so not sleep in the farmhouse but the pigs said there were no sheets on the bed so that made it ok. The pigs also started to drink whiskey and beer that was in the farmhouse just like the humans did, the pigs also said they needed to sleep inside because they need a quiet place to focus and help the farm get better. The pigs would change the rules only to benefit themselves no one else and even hurting other animals. Napoleon took jessie puppies that were born and raised them to be guard dogs of the animal farm house.Near the end of animal farm the pigs became friends with the humans and were making deals with the humans because the humans were providing alcohol.
To conclude, In the novel Animal Farm, orwell is making the argument that both the leaders and followers in a revolution are guilty when long term positive change is not accomplished. To much power can lead to corruption the pigs were smart and helpful in the beginning but once they took over and kept gaining more and more power by each day they became more like the humans than even the animals.
