Hello, my name is Sabiha Murshed, I am a year 11 student and I am currently studying at St Pauls way trust school. I believe myself to be responsible hard working and I have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. I am able to use my own initiative, and have gained the ability to think proactively and independently to complete set tasks. I can also work well as a part of a team and I always try my best. I have clear ambitions and I am motivated to go the extra mile in order to achieve set targets and genuinely enjoy working hard to achieve them.
I am currently studying for 10 GCSEs with targets of 9s, 8s and 7s, and I am determined to achieve this. However, I have particular interest in Maths, Biology and Chemistry and I feel these are my strongest subjects. I believe these subjects will help me in the long term as I am interested in biomedical science and would like to have a career in this field. Therefore, I would like to take theses subjects for A levels in your sixth form/college and then attend university. I would like to attend this sixth form as being a student here I already recognise the excellence of it and I am already familiar with the school. Furthermore, this sixth form has a specialised medicine pathway with links Queens Mary university and the local NHS and I feel I would be able to take full advantage of any potential opportunities.
Throughout my school years, my attendance and punctuality have been of high standard and I have received certificates for this. I understand the importance of attending lessons regularly and the impact it has on my education. Furthermore, I have been recognised for my high progress and achievement, and I’ve been selected for a visit to Oxford university where I gained an insight into university life and I even attended a lecture. As well as that I was given the opportunity to take part in the annual St Pauls Way science summer school due to my particular effort in science, and here I participated in many workshops to do with the STEM field. Moreover, I took part in STEM aviation day and listened to talks, again demonstrating my passion for these subjects which I wish to go further with at this sixth form.
Additionally, I take pride in being determined and hardworking and was given the opportunity to demonstrate this by attending the Royal Institute maths masterclass in Queen Mary university. There I gained many beneficial skills such as the ability to take a logical and analytical approach to solving problems, being able to work efficiently and productively, manage my time well as well as increase my confidence. In addition to this I have partaken in the UKMT maths challenge twice, with both time receiving a silver award, reiterating my good work ethic and high effort. As well as that, I show my initiative and sense of responsibility as I regularly tutor KS2 students; I give them help when needed and set them tasks to complete for maths and English.
During the summer holidays I did work experience in a finance office, where I worked mainly at a computer with spreadsheets and forms. Here, I learnt the importance of social interactions with others in the workplace and acting professional. I believe this will be very beneficial for me in the future and I hope to expand on my skill further at this sixth form. Also, during the summer holidays, I volunteered with a local organisation where I helped set up fun days for children, showcasing my abilities to work well with a team and my enthusiasm to help others.
Outside of school, I am an avid reader and often visit my local library, showing how I can make use of the resources around me, a skill which I believe will be beneficial at St Pauls way sixth form where there will be many opportunities and resources. Furthermore, I enjoy sports, particularly swimming. On account of this I go swimming weekly showing my commitment to the sport.
Overall, it is apparent that I am a intellectual hardworking individual; and my determination and desire to challenge myself makes this sixth form the most suitable path way for me to fulfil my future plans.
