The codes of practice relating to Equality, Diversity, inclusion and discrimination includes legislations such as:
Anti-Discrimination Act 1977- This is an act of the parliament relating to discrimination in employment, the public education system, delivery of goods and systems and other services such as banking health care, and property and night clubs.
The Human Rights Act 1998- This sets out the rights and freedoms that everyone in the uk has. It also say that public organisations must treat everyone fairly and with dignity and respect
As a care worker providing care is our responsibility to make sure all members of staff have the correct information on all service users to make sure they are being treated equally and their rights are being observed. Also promoting equality and rights involves providing support to other individuals are involved in the individuals live, such as: parents, family members, carers, friends, external partners and health and social care practitioners. This can take many methods and can include:
• Providing clear information and advice in relations to practices that promote equality and rights.
• Suggesting they read the policies and procedures so they can what they have rights to.
• You could also access training and development opportunities around the promotion of equality and rights in practice.
