There are numerous situations within the work place that will require a leader to adapt his or her style based on the specific situations they find themselves in. This could depend on the different people within the company or be task related as to how the leader approaches the situation. Also, some companies have a certain environment that a leader would also have to adhere to for example an office with a calm and relaxed environment. Using the Hersey Blanchard leadership model (as seen below) it shows there are four types of leaderships, delegating, supporting, coaching and directing. These can be used depending on the different types of situations a leader finds themselves in.
